Lutricia McNeal
Biography
| Born in Oklahoma and raised in a gospel background with her four sisters and four brothers. Her father was a priest in the neighbourhood church where she grew up, so it was a natural thing for her to start singing in a gospel choir. After finishing school she received a scholarship to go to college, thanks to her singing talent. During a vacation in Europe in 1989 she met producer/artist team Rob'n'Raz in Stockholm, Sweden. They teamed up and released two albums, including top 10 hits such as "Club Hopping, "Bite The Bite" and the no.1 hit "In Command". She also met her husband-to-be in Stockholm. They are now living in Dallas, Texas, but Lutricia still has her musical base in Sweden. During the winter of '96-'97 she's been working on her first solo album, "My Side Of Town". The EZ-production team have produced it and, together with Lutricia, written material for the album, which was released in the beginning of January '97. The first single from the album, the 70's Barbi Benton hit "Ain't That Just The Way" went to no.l in the Swedish Sales Chart and in combination with massive radio play it soon established McNeal's position as a new star artist. The two follow up singles, "My Side Of Town,' and "Washington", have been released in Sweden with great result. After having been voted "Best Newcoming Artist" in Sweden at the Dance Music Awards in April, it's time for the rest of the world to get hooked up by the catchy melodies and her fabulous voice. Now things have started to happen in Europe too. "Ain't That Just The Way" has recently been released in the Netherlands and Belgium. The single is still no.2 for the third week in the national sales charts Top 40 and Mega Top 100 in the Netherlands and she's already been there twice to do TV Shows and interviews. The album "My Side Of Town" is no 59 on the national sales chart, moving up. In Belgium the single has started to climb as well and it won't be long until the rest of Europe follows!
