Barry Adamson

New Album, Single and Live Dates

Highly influential and critically acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, film composer, songwriter and vocalist Barry Adamson returns in 1998 with a vengeance. Mute Records will be releasing a new single, album and for the first time in over 10 years he will be playing live with a full band.

Barry's exhilarating new album 'As Above, So Below', released on 1st June features ten unique songs that are both personal and universal, imbued with an infectious maverick spirit of adventure.

Available on 11th May, the new single 'Can't Get Loose' is a dramatic and emotive, vibe flavoured pop ballad, and was created during the sessions which sired the new album. Swinging to his own idiosyncratic beat, Barry Adamson has fashioned a soaring melody over which he sings a bitter sweet tale of a character's romantic obsession and his desire for transcendence. As one would expect from Barry Adamson, this is no simple open and shut case; ascending guitars blend with swirling orchestrations carrying echoes of thriller moods, while Adamson's vocal delivers the killer hook for this widescreen epic.

New material from the album will be played live with a full band at the Emporium, 62 Kingly Street, London W1, on 7/8/9 June, tickets are priced £10.

Barry is currently working on scoring the music for a ten episode police drama set in Manchester entitled 'City Central' for the BBC. The programme is written by Tony Jordan and produced by John Yorke. A return to his Moss Side roots.

He will also be standing in for Laura Lee Davies on her radio show at GLR on 23rd April to expose his DJing talents.
