Business Observer Disc-overy to pay off.

Support from the council enabled one enterprising former rock musician to move his business out of his bedroom and launch an enterprise with clients including Virgin Records, EMI and rock superstars Bryan Ferry and Peter Gabriel.

Declan Cosgrove in fact runs two businesses M3M Media and Bite IT from a base in Bury Road, Rochdale. He now stands to make a fortune from his innovation the e-Disc, which is revolutionising on-line marketing across the music industry nationwide.

Declan believes it could have much wider implications for all kinds of industries including banking and insurance.

It was a grant from European funding organised by the council which enabled Declan, aged 32, to take on his first employee and train him. He now has a workforce of nine.
