| Yonah Star sign Taurus My mum was born in Britain but her parents are from Jamaica. My dad is Jamaican. I have never been to Jamaica but my mum has promised to take us one day. She went to visit and told us it is like paradise. My name is Yonah and it means "Little Black Dove". I have another name with a special meaning but I'll save telling you for another day. Moss Side, where we grew up, is not a very big area but it has a massive park called Alexander Park where they have the carnival. We wish there were more activities there though. There was a roller disco in the local community centre and the Adventure Playground was great. In summer everyone sits outside and sometimes have barbecues with lots of friends and loud music. Well, they did on our street anyway. Our mum brought us up to have manners and to be confident. She always says that manners don't come in a box. It doesn't cost a penny! She taught us how to cook, wash and clean. I'm quite a good cook too! We all live at home (mum, Zainam, Cleo and my little sister Terri). My mum's single and has brought us up on her own for the past nine years. We're a very close family and we have family meetings and discuss how we feel about each other, whether it's good or bad points and try and sort things out. Me and my sisters argue sometimes but it doesn't last long. If we can't sort things out on our own then we go to our mum! Our mum is like our best friend and we can talk to her about any subject. Our friends always say she's cool and sometimes tell her their problems and we jokingly say "leave our mum alone!" We have always listened to a range of music, especially from our mum's collection. Our tastes vary from Otis Redding and most Tamla Motown stuff reggae, soul and pop. We like artists like Madonna, Prince, The Rolling Stones, Cat Stevens, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Jackson Five, Earth, Wind and Fire and many more. There's too many. Recent artists I listen to are Spice Girls, Usher, Another Level, All Saints, Janet and Michael Jackson, Aerosmith, Madonna, Puffy and Mase, Missv Elliot, Hanson, Backstreet Boys, Blackstreet, Aaron Carter, Pavorotti, Prodigy and more. And Cleopatra of course! And the Jacksons - they were the best!! I think that Mark is really nice. He looked at three unknown girls and helped us out. I can only relate to how well he treated us and will always be thankful to him for taking time out just for us. We've always loved the song 'I Want You Back' but it was an all round decision by us and our management and record company. We know that Cleo sounds like Michael when he was younger but how close we didn't really know until my mum played his version and our version at the same time. It was really scary because we couldn't tell the difference! ! |

| YONAH'S DAIRY.
Dear Diary, Well I guess we are going to get to know each other really well each month. I have never really written a diary before, but we all thought that it would be a great way to let you all know what we have been up to, all the insider show biz gossip and keep your finger on the pulse. As the youngest in the band I kinda have the best and the worst of it. Cos I am the kid sister while we are out on the road and stuff, everyone wants to mother me which is kinda cool, but then I am not old enough to stay out as long as the others which is the real bummer. But as the youngest and the smallest I can hide in the smallest places and over hear the wildest gossip ever - so when they dish the dirt I will make sure you are the first to know. You can rely on me to tell you the truth about the way it happens and you never know - I may have my own secrets to share (I hope so) .Soooo, keep checkin' here for all there is to know Until next time |
